Bookshop
There are a huge number of excellent guide books and resources on the Lake District, whether you are a first time visitor or, like me, almost an honorary local. Our bookshop contains a wide range of superb Lake District resources as well as books on photography in general.

Our book sales are handled by Amazon and a small percentage of any book you buy comes to us and helps us pay for bandwidth, new batteries, and boot leather - all the things we need to keep this web site going! Depending which side of the Atlantic you’re visiting us from, please click either the UK or US link to ensure you visit the correct branch of Amazon!

If you regularly buy books online, please consider visiting Amazon via one of the following links; this means we get a small commission: amazon.co.uk | amazon.com.

WALKING BOOKS: Wainwright

Alfred Wainwright's Pictorial Guides have served several generations of walkers and are still in my opinion the best companion for the fell walker. On top of which, each volume is entirely hand-drawn and a superb work of art in its own right.

On the man himself ...
And in his own words ...

WALKING BOOKS: Mark Richards

Some are calling Mark the “new Wainwright”. Whilst that may be overstated, his guidebooks contain a rich blend of photographs, sketchs and careful text which forms an excellent resource for those who want to explore the fells.

WALKING BOOKS: Bill Birkett

Another experienced guide book writer who can be enjoyed by both novices and experts alike.
