This little chapel, which sits on the site of an earlier, sixteenth-century building, is one of the Lake District’s tiniest churches. It stands uon a rocky knoll with a wonderful view across Buttermere to the Haystacks-Red Pike ridge. The church is also famous for the memorial tablet commemorating the great walker and writer, Alfred Wainwright, and it has become something of a place of pilgrimage for his thousands of fans.
